Mission

Build A Pro Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Apprenticeship Intermediary in Salina, Kansas built to address the growing labor shortage and support the continued economic expansion of our community. We come alongside employers to develop and manage thriving registered apprenticeships within their current businesses, empowering the employer to focus on developing their skilled labor and growing in their industry.

The Build A Pro Divisions (Youth, Military, and Lazarus) are specialized to come along side apprentices with customized wrap-around services for each individual by partnering with local organizations as providers. A few examples of these wrap-around services available include financial literacy, conflict management & resolution, English as a second language, remedial math and English, professional etiquette courses, substance abuse education, and many others deemed necessary for the overall employability of the individual.

We believe the apprenticeship model aligned with the individual's talent creates the ideal formula for long-term workforce placement success. Build A Pro is not limited by a sole focus on any one individual industry.

Profile

Each of our current and future divisions will specialize in supporting individual apprentices from various distressed populations.

A unique and groundbreaking component of Build A Pro is the focus and mission of “The Lazarus Project”. The primary objective of this division is to develop fair apprenticeships within correctional facilities while forming working relationships with incarcerated individuals and second-chancers. These apprenticeships will serve as feeders to our active apprenticeships in the public sector upon release, and placement will be subject to extensive screening of potential apprentices to help ensure a successful employer match for a long-term career. The screening process will enable The Lazarus Project to customize wrap-around services for each individual by partnering with local organizations as providers. A few examples of these wrap-around services available include financial literacy, conflict management & resolution, English as a second language, remedial math and English, professional etiquette courses, substance abuse education, and many others deemed necessary for the overall employability of the individual. The Lazarus Project will also be aggressively seeking additional workforce in otherwise untapped populations such as treatment facilities and homeless shelters utilizing apprenticeships as a structured pathway to success. Partnering with the Youth division to also reach into juvenile correction facilities and at-risk youth programs to guide youth as young as 16 toward entering state registered youth-apprenticeships. Partnership with local sober living and halfway homes is already underway. Adequate workforce placement has been proven to reduce the rates of recidivism among the formerly incarcerated and relapse among those struggling with substance abuse disorder.

We believe the apprenticeship model aligned with the individual's talent creates the ideal formula for long-term workforce placement success.
